Technical Product Description:

The Franklin Electric FMIG Gas Engine-Driven Self-Priming Pump is a heavy-duty self-priming pump designed for demanding field applications where portable, engine-driven performance is required. Franklin Electric states that the FMIG Series is ideal for duties requiring flows of up to 300 GPM and approximately 50 to 60 PSI, making it suitable for high-capacity transfer and jobsite pumping applications.  

The pump features a cast gray iron volute with rugged construction and includes priming and drain plugs for easier operation and service. Franklin also specifies a removable front cover with a built-in check valve to facilitate priming, helping improve startup convenience in self-priming applications.  

For liquid handling, the FMIG Series uses a semi-open cast iron, non-clogging impeller designed primarily for water, while also being capable of handling small quantities of mud, sand, or silt up to 10% by volume. Franklin further notes a replaceable steel wear plate to help maintain pump efficiency over time. The standard mechanical seal includes carbon/ceramic faces, FKM elastomers, and 300 series stainless steel components.  

Franklin lists the FMIG Series with Honda or Kohler engines, depending on model, and specifies horizontal mounting. Published examples include the FMIG30-13H with a 289 cc Honda engine, 3-inch suction and discharge, and up to 327 GPM flow with 160 ft shutoff, as well as the FMIG40-18K with a 624 cc Kohler engine, 4-inch suction and discharge, and a 212°F maximum fluid temperature. Final performance depends on the exact model selected.
