Technical Product Description:

The Franklin Electric DR Series Close-Coupled Centrifugal Pump is a robust end-suction centrifugal pump designed for commercial, agricultural, and industrial liquid handling applications. Franklin Electric describes the DR1-DR2 series as available in a variety of pump construction materials to handle a wide range of applications, with configurations including square flange, 56J threaded shaft, 56C keyed shaft motor-driven units, and pump end kits for customers supplying their own motors.

One of the main service advantages of the DR Series is its back pull-out design, which provides access to internal parts without disturbing the plumbing. The pump also features a robust cast iron volute as standard, with a stainless steel alternate available for the DR1 Series, giving users more flexibility based on fluid compatibility and operating conditions.

Franklin Electric notes that the volute discharge can be rotated in 90-degree increments, with top vertical discharge as the standard factory orientation. The series also includes multiple 1/4-inch NPT drain/pressure ports to simplify winterizing regardless of volute position. For hydraulic efficiency, the DR Series uses an enclosed impeller design, with thermoplastic and stainless steel impeller options, and it can be ordered with multiple mechanical seal material constructions to accommodate handling different fluids.

Every pump unit is factory wet tested, and the DR Series is suitable for horizontal or vertical installation, with the motor end up for vertical mounting. Franklin also specifies right-hand rotation, clockwise when viewed from the motor end.

Depending on the specific DR model, performance varies. For example, Franklin lists a DR1C1-SS-K pump end kit at 1 HP, 60 GPM maximum flow, 110 ft shutoff at 60 Hz, 3600 RPM, and 180°F maximum fluid temperature. Franklin also lists a DR2J1-CS-K pump end kit at 1 HP, 90 GPM maximum flow, 78 ft shutoff at 60 Hz, 3600 RPM, and 160°F maximum fluid temperature. These examples show that final performance depends on the exact DR configuration selected.
